In 1936 Louis Durand came down from the Cévennes with his herd of goats in search of a farmhouse. He arrived in the commune of St Nazaire des Gardies and stopped there to take a nap, but when he woke up his goats had invaded a vineyard. He then went to the hamlet of Cabrières where he saw the owner who offered him a glass of wine and sold him the farmhouse.
